Meet Nilay
Nilay Choksi is a patent attorney turned generalist who now serves as the sole in-house General Counsel at Worksport. On any given day, his plate includes contract reviews, IP portfolio management, policy audits, and providing business strategy to leadership. There is no legal team to delegate to. There are no backups. It is just Nilay.
That reality made finding the right AI-powered legal tool more than a nice-to-have. It was essential.
The Search
Before selecting Ruli, Nilay did his homework thoroughly. He evaluated somewhere between 12 and 14 legal AI tools, running trials across the board. His criteria came into focus quickly: he needed a clean, intuitive interface, a powerful AI agent, and a Word extension that could help him take first passes at redlines without toggling between applications.
Ruli checked every box. But what ultimately tipped the scales was something less quantifiable.
"It was the customer service that really took it over the top for me at those beginning stages."
That pre-sale responsiveness set the tone for a relationship that has continued to deliver.
That sense of partnership continued after the sale. Nilay pointed to the quality of onboarding, fast support, and the team’s willingness to help him get more value from the product over time.
“Ruli provided sufficient training. If I needed anything else, a phone call was scheduled immediately and we went over the specific feature I needed. It wasn’t just to make the sale, but also to keep the customer happy. I really appreciated that.”
Daily Life with Ruli
Today, Nilay uses Ruli almost every day, often multiple times. What started as a focused use of the AI agent and Word extension has expanded as he has gotten more familiar with the platform's depth.
He now regularly uses the knowledge base and data grid features, and recently discovered a new way to leverage the Monitor feature that he had not previously considered: uploading his internal company policies and employee handbook so Ruli can flag updates and changes on a rolling basis.
"I need to audit our policies annually at least. If I can put our policies and handbook into the Ruli Monitor feature and have it update me every month or six months, that is going to be very, very helpful for me."
He has also applied Ruli to patent work, using it to summarize and compare prior art, and analyze briefs to find gaps and identify where arguments can be strengthened.
The Numbers
When asked to estimate time savings, Nilay did not hesitate.
"My guess is it is saving me probably 25 to 30 hours a month on day-to-day operational tasks, like contracts, disputes, and policies."
For a solo GC who also contributes to business strategy, 30 reclaimed hours a month is not a small thing. It is the difference between being buried in the weeds and being able to show up as a strategic partner to the business and focus on bigger picture items.
What He Tells Others
Nilay has professional and personal connections who are also in-house counsel, and, he does not hesitate to recommend Ruli. He pointed to the same things that won him over: the simple, easy-to-navigate design, the quality and accuracy of outputs, and a team that actually listens.
On that last point, Nilay has seen his own feedback reflected in new features Ruli has shipped, which makes the experience feel like a genuine partnership rather than a vendor relationship.
"I don't feel like I'm talking into a void," he says. "If I'm making suggestions, they actually land somewhere."
Today, Ruli plays a central role in Nilay’s legal workflow. What started as a search for a better legal AI tool became a way to reclaim time, strengthen legal work, and operate more strategically as a one-person legal team.

Nilay Choksi
General Counsel
"Overall, it really has facilitated my day-to-day operations. It lets me focus on bigger picture strategy rather than getting deep in the weeds on daily operational issues."
